so much for breakfast

It doesn't look like the crepes are going to happen this morning. Typical. They would have probably been too "eggy" anyway.

I am however going to 99 ranch! More Hello Panda? I think it's safe to assume.

So, I was thinking and I decided that despite my love of food and my interest in cooking and baking, I don't think I have quite the creative capacity or drive to actually make this into a food blog with daily recipes and such. Though I do promise to share anything I make, from now on this blog is about life in general (and if that happens to be 70 percent food, so be it).

p.s. If anyone would like to contact me (especially if you want support for an eating disorder) please, please feel free to contact me at dearhoneypickle@yahoo.com. I want to hear from you. really.

my first late night ramble

hi hi.

Well, I don't have any spectacular new recipes to report, or any spectacular news of any sort, actually. I did however go to one of my absolute favorite Mexican restaurants tonight--Dos Arbolitos (it's in the San Fernando Valley--North Hills).

I ordered the BEST soup--cocido--and the bowl was literally overflowing with vegetables and really tender beef. (If you decide to check it out, the chicken flautas and ablondigas soup are also delicious.) And the best part--the onion, cilantro, and lime to put on top!! Fortunately, the meal was a success unlike the last time I went to a Mexican restaurant and ordered menudo by accident, which is a completely different soup and not at all recommended to those unaccustomed to big swirly pieces of intestines. I had to give that one away. On top of the funny aftertaste, just looking at it was a tad nauseating.

Anyway, after dinner I went to this asian market next door called Seafood City and I got Hello Panda cookies! So good, and I didn't feel insanely fat after, which unfortunately is an annoying habit of mine whenever I eat anything I actually like. Get strawberry--it's artificial fruit heaven.

So I'm thinking of making crepes tomorrow for my mom. I made them for my boyfriend recently who kindly informed me that they were very "eggy," and I can only assume that it wasn't a compliment. I don't really trust the boy's judgment, though, because he doesn't really like anything unless it's covered in salt or chilies, deep fried, or overly sweetened.  Anyway, I really liked them, and I think that with a few minor alterations they could taste very similar to the German pancakes at IHOP that are so good. I'll let you know how it goes and you can decide for yourselves.

in a nutshell

I've been meaning to start a blog for a ridiculously long time, and I finally got up the courage to actually sit down and write. Tada!

So, i like food. (hence the double hungry title). The hamster part is a story for another time.

Anyway, on to the important points:

1. I like to eat food (that's most important).
2. I like to prepare food (cooking, baking, etc).
3. anddd I'm hoping I like to write about it

So, my great idea was to drag you lonely, ravenous internet surfers along on my kitchen (and life) escapades.

Sadly, instead of having any great recipes to report I'm sitting on my ass watching Dude Where's My Car. sigh. The rubik's cube just turned into some supernatural alien thing. Even Ashton Kutcher isn't holding my attention. Now you know that's a bad sign.

Anyway, one more thing before I sign off for now. It's kind of relevant and I suppose it explains my food obsessions. How to say this without seeming melodramatic? Well, out with it. I'm a recovering bulimic. So, as a warning, I'll probably alternate disjointedly between healthy foods and baked goods, depending on my mood and occasionally throw in a sob story or two, or three, or fifty...

Oh, and i like to rant, so expect a few.

ciao lovelies
